Created for Illustration Friday weekly illustration brief to create work based on a single word “Slow”
Ive been reading the king in yellow which i picked up whilst at the Durham book festival, well in a charity shop while at it, so not much of a jump to Octopus really.
In durham I was fortunate enough to hear Dan Vyleta read from his book The Crooked Maid it was beautiful. the reading the voice, the words all of it, i recommend.

and used this as the starting point.
I haven’t made any thing for quite a while so this was just playing with the textures to kind bet back in to enjoying it again, which i did.
i really enjoyed David Petersen’s Blog post about ‘Drawing like yourself’.
Ive spent time thinking ‘im not as good as artist x’ and not appreciating my own work, so its nice to read about some else experience of this…

this was to accompany and article about changeling limitations, its possibly slightly quiche. But im really happy that i did in decent speed (for me) and it wasent total bad.
also been working a /jamespepper.net for a cuple of hours this mouring a well, all this befor i go to work today as well, so im feeling all productive which is really nice feeling.
have been trying to make ilo about forgiveness only being a option if a person has not being forgiven as a real option to which made me think of the Idiom: Between a rock and a hard place.

have taken out the bit that made it look so ugly, but it is just drawing of rocks now not comunication.
I must admit i do feel some what off a cad if i dont post some thing to show for my self at lest one a week so i thought better try to absolve my self but showing what i was doing last week but have not had the time to post yet.
which is a lil logo exsersice i did to try and get some more work in my design section of my web site.
Speaking of web sites that Christopher Owe who is Scandtastic if you dint know, has just resigned / developed his web site and if lovely and perfectly formed. So much so I may had to kick mine in to some kind of fancier styling.
So ive picked up HTML, XHTML, and CSS: Visual QuickStart Guide: With XHTML and CSS (Visual QuickStart Guides) by Elizabeth Castro so Ive been read thought connecting the dots of all my half lent html knowledge. So something slick on it was some time.. soon.
But whats been taking up far to much of my time is procrastinating over is working on is reworking old boardgames ‘boards’ to try some thing different as well. which is all still very WIP as it is a bit new to me doing that kind of thing, but i will be posting some thing about that soon. But feast your eyes on these masters for now
i really have to stop leaving my IF till friday it self lol had idea but it got a bit lots in the random making stuff kind of seem to have taken over but… it was enjoyable soo.. and i have proper illustration that i aim to be posting this after noon that will be more of a thoughtful editorial piece (finger crossed) so check back by soon n tell me what you think

I really have started to enjoy the rendering method I’ve started using lately and included some example of my working with this post as well because there were probably have more aesthetically pleasing with out a background top them.
Im thinking about post cards at vistaprint but I’m have difficulty picking a illustration to put on a post card for mail out promotion purposes, do I have any thing I could use in my portfolio? or should i make a new for the purpose a mail out?

My recent interest in cautionary tales has been sparked by illustration Fridays word this week ‘caution’ ive made a book cover for “Jim, Who ran away from his Nurse, and was eaten by a Lion” i have enjoyed this, as its given me a opportunity to try and make some thing that could be use for a book cover, i know i need to work on type a bit more..anyways what do you think? how could it be improved ? what did you do?

well not much posting but i have not really had much show for my self, have been very busy finishing an evening class off last month it was in teaching and had to be observed lots fafing about and organizeing it was a blast and im so glad i did it, just got to see if i passed it now
and am currently recharging my battery’s soon by going to the lake district next month, but for now im settling for a week off for my birthday.(20th)
so with all this time off it time to get busy with my other job illustration, there will be no exscus not to do the next illustration friday. and start making work that will be suitable for different markets, book publishing and greeting cards. as well as trying to get more editorial work.
but for today im busy emailing agents, which is some thing ive never done before. epp!

Not really dedicate the time to this i should, am very busy this week with evening class drawing to a close and with not really keeping to top all the work i should have been doing thought out.

I would of like to have spend more time on the and drafted it more seeing how this is the first idea visualized.I was looking worn up in my thesaurus, then got ‘worn out’ then got to ‘shattered’, and then this idea seem like a proficient metaphor.
I want to start writing reviews of books and other such stuff i find useful, the first must be Pocked Roget’s thesauruses…. more reason why this is so special soon …
